Workshop: Jarapa Weaving

  • Qeske Maastricht 8B François de Veyestraat Maastricht Netherlands (map)

There's a traditional weaving technique in Spain that uses broken textiles or scraps (called 'harapos') to create new fabrics. The resulting circular textile is called a 'jarapa'.

Spanish designers Maria Voth Velasco (Turtlehorn) and Cristina Palacios (KINKLEID) brougth this sustainable practice to Maastricht by facilitating a weaving workshop at Stichting TIM.

Participants used diverse textile scraps and left with a new piece.
