KINKLEID is a creative studio developing projects around sustainable practices and materials.

Acting as a bridge between disciplines, we connect

science + design + activism

to move the needle towards a more responsible and regenerative ecosystem.

Behind KINKLEID

Founded by creative entrepreneur and academic researcher Cristina Palacios, KINKLEID emerged as a response to her first-hand experience with textile engineering and the waste that is often generated. While the norm was to incinerate such waste, she was determined to recycle it and use her work as a conversation starter.

The name KINKLEID (pronounced /ˈkɪn.klaɪ̯t/) combines: KIN- referring to community, care, and connection; with -KLEID, the German word for “dress.” It alludes to our belief that only by supporting kind, collaborative practices that respect both people and planet can we build truly sustainable futures for textiles, and other disciplines.

With KINKLEID, Cristina opens a space for honest reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue, bringing scientific insight and systems thinking into the creative space, and contributing to a just transition through creative dissemination.
